Overseas Travel Serviceglobal air travel

Unfortunately due to a global shortage of many travel vaccines we are unable to provide a Travel Health Clinic.  We will update this in Spring 2018 when more stock hopefully should become available.

There are numerous travel clinics within the area such as Barnton Pharmacy or Davidsons Mains Medical Centre and there is a designated Travel Clinic at the Western General Hospital.  Thank you for your patience.

The practice offers a comprehensive travel service.  Please contact reception at least 4 weeks prior to travel to request a travel appointment with one of our practice nurses.  At this appointment the nurse will ask about your travel plans, undertake a comprehensive risk assessment and recommend any vaccinations that may be required.

There is a £10 fee for this service, payable at the appointment by cash or cheque.  Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these will incur a charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.  The nurse will advise of any cost before issuing prescriptions.

Travelling in Europe
The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) replaced the old E111 in 2006.  If you are travelling to Europe please ensure you have a valid EHIC.

To find out more about EHIC visit http://www.nhs.uk/NHSEngland/Healthcareabroad/EHIC/Pages/about-the-ehic.aspx
